Lemon-Ginger Detox Smoothie is the right amount of spicy and sweet. I love to drink it a couple times a week. Especially in the fall and spring when my allergies tend to bother me more. It really helps lower my inflammation, heals my gut, and really gets me eating lighter and cleaner overall. Kind of like a mental and physical reset for me.
This is also my go to smoothie when I need to cleanse. When I have been eating out too much or when we come home from traveling. It’s the best detox smoothie to get you back on track with your healthy lifestyle.
What you need to make this smoothie:
Ginger: loaded with antioxidants and compounds that prevent stress and damage to your body’s DNA, etc.!!
Chia seeds: loaded with antioxidants and can help fight heart disease. Contains nutrients that aid in good bone health, etc.!!
Lemon: reduces cancer risk, heart health, prevents kidney stones, etc.!!
Raw honey: Antibacterial and antifungal properties, etc.!!
Cucumber: promotes hydration and aids in weight loss, etc.!!
Papaya or pineapple: high levels of antioxidants vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E
Papaya is wonderful and delicious! Truly my favorite for this recipe due to all the incredible health benefits! It can be hard to find where I live, if that’s the case for you feel free to use pineapple or even a berry mix. I will often stock up on fresh papaya when I can find it and store in my freezer. Be sure not to throw away the seeds when cutting your papaya. The seeds also have many health benefits as well. They have a bit of a peppery taste which is why I love to throw them into smoothies. When using a high powered blender like a Vitamix you really can’t tell the difference.
