There is nothing more comforting to me than a warm bowl of soup on a cold wintry day! This hearty and Gut Healing Cabbage soup is sure to warm you up. Cooking this in the instant pot couldn’t be easier.
If your short on time you could skip the sauté step and throw all the ingredients in excluding the coconut milk and nutritional yeast, go sledding or for a wintry walk and come back to delicious warm meal. I make this soup a couple times a month to boost our immune systems and gut health. It’s so easy and versatile. You could really swap out any vegetables you have on hand.
No problem, you can totally make this on the stovetop. It will just take a bit longer. You will basically follow the same steps just cook until the potatoes are cooked through.
Yes! Its a great soup to freeze. The veggies will be a little more soft so if you know you are going to freeze it than I would cook less time, so for Instant Pot pressure cook for only 2 minutes. If using a stove top, leave the veggies el dente.

Description
This delicious Instant Pot Gut Healing Cabbage soup is packed full of nutrients that will restore your soul. It’s warm, comforting, and healthy packed with cabbage, kale, and gut healing bone broth.
Ingredients
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 small white onion
- 2 cups bone broth
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled
- 1 cup kale
- 1 ½ cups carrots
- 1 small white cabbage
- ½ cup quinoa, uncooked
- 4 cups water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon no salt seasoning (optional)
- ½ teaspoon fresh or dried basil
- ¼ cups nutritional yeast
- 1 can organic coconut milk
Instructions
- Chop garlic, onions, sweet potatoes, kale, white cabbage, and carrots to about ¼ to ½ inch pieces.
- Sauté: add onions, garlic, spices and ⅓ cup water in the Instant Pot for 4 minutes, stir periodically, watching so it doesn’t burn on the bottom.
- Cook: Turn the instant pot off for a moment and add in the rest of the ingredients except nutritional yeast and coconut milk. Stir to get onions and garlic incorporated. Secure the lid and move the steam release valve to “sealing.” Select the Manual or Pressure Cook button and set the timer to 4 minutes.
- When the soup is done, wait 5 minutes before releasing the pressure. When the screen reads LO:5, you can press the steam release button. When the floating valve in the lid drops and the air is all released, its safe to open the lid.
- Add in can of coconut milk and nutritional yeast. Stir well to incorporate.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Freezer: This recipe freezes well in a freezer safe container for up to 6 months. Simply thaw and reheat in a pot over stove.
- It’s fine to let the pressure release naturally all the way if you are busy. Just be sure to press the valve release button to make sure all pressure is out before opening the lid.
